And just one mistake is all it will take

[A secluded archipelago of islands sounds like a grand place for a school, doesn't it? Especially a school of magic. Protected by the natural formations of the islands made it tricky for foreigners to arrive, and the magical leylines that run beneath each and every one of the islands provided an abundance of magical energy. The location was perfectly ideal to establish a school for witches.

Though that didn't mean the locals were fond of the idea of magic being so close to them. Not that there were brawls or conflicts between groups of humans and witches. The more human half of the population did provide services to the witches, though there was always the cautious eye thrown at their backs. On the other side, the witches did help out with the local economy, but kept to themselves on the one island they claimed for their school.

Riku hadn't thought much of the witches growing up. A little curious, yes, but he was always told he was a curious kid. It really wasn't until Sora made a new friend one day. A new girl from the school and the Headmaster's granddaughter. Kairi opened up a whole new realm of possibilities and curiosities for Riku. She was cool, different and interesting, and through her, Riku made a few new friends.

Like Rise. They've only known each other for close to a year now, but only recently have they started to see each other outside of their friend group. Riku's been reluctant to call it a date really, though he has a feeling that Rise's probably advertising it as such. Regardless, he's a little excited for it.

He pulls up his boat to the dock, sun starting to reach the horizon. The play island, as they still called it, should be empty of kids now, and it's the perfect time for a little late picnic with a girl from a different world. Tying off his boat and grabbing his pack, he makes his way to their meeting place, hoping he's not too early for her.]
