freedoms just another word for nothing left to lose
[This? This officially stinks.
He usually isn't such a pessimist anymore, trying to take inspiration and strength from his friends. Positivity was never quite his strong suit, but he's been trying over the past few years.
But this is starting to wear him down a bit. And all because of that one mission he went on with Donald and Sora. It wasn't complicated at all, but something went wrong when Donald's mini spell went awry and struck Riku instead.
And strangely, nothing happened. The magic didn't take effect and seemed to have fizzled out. At the time...
It wasn't until the next day where they saw a change. He woke up and strangely, found himself a little shorter than the day before. That was a few weeks ago, and since then, Riku's lost close to two feet of height. It wasn't problem, but the last few missions have not been kind to him. His magical power is diminishing little by little, and his strength and endurance aren't at their peak anymore. His reach with his Keyblade is getting worse, he's getting progressively more tired and unable to keep up. Even his physical form looks different. His usually thick arms are more wiry each passing day.
There hasn't been a cure yet. No amount of dispels seem to lift whatever curse this spell has become. And since he's become more of a hindrance on mission and world patrols, Riku's agreed to stay at the Castle for the time being until Master Yen Sid and the others could come up with a cure or at least a way to stop whatever this is.
So for now, he stays put and is currently going through drills and exercises in the main hall. The Keyblade that's almost as big as him now looks comical, but it's something to get his mind off his predicament and how useless he feels.]

so when all of this mess started happening to riku... well, ven couldn't completely pass up the opportunity to indulge a little.
he whistled in appreciation as he watches riku, arms crossed over his chest as he leans back against the wall.]
Looking great as usual, Riku.

Its helping. Sort of. Even though its taking more and more for him to sprint across the room, he's trying to keep up and push himself. But his body is relenting every so often, and there's only so much he can do. A distraction, yes, but it's still something of a reminder of what he's struggling with now.
Unfortunately, the real distraction comes in Ven's whistle. At the sound, Riku seems to have forgotten where his feet were and where he wanted to go, and without a hint of grace, the Master tumbles forward and rolls onto his back.
And curses his luck. Of course, someone's watching him. Why not.
Braveheart disappears with a flicker beside him as the once proud and tall Riku sits up, face very obviously pink from his blunder. Honestly, he probably looks like a bit like a kid propping his elbows on his knees like that and staring at Ven, but he doesn't care.]
Thanks. [A mumble before he sighs and properly picks himself up.] Enjoying the show?
